TEAM A

Greetings from 18 Asparagi!! Why asparagi? Because we have fondly named ourselves Team Asparagus (one of our many inside jokes). Our story begins as 18 awkward ISLE members that were thrown together to form a group in March, but following Induction camp, Recee trip, Ubin camp and not forgetting countless weekly Monday morning sessions and 9-to-9 pre-trip prep meetings, we’ve grown into a loving yet quirky little family. As unique as each individual member is, we can somehow bond over the most nonsensical little things like constantly tripping and attempting to panna one another (with dried leaves…), jamming to Spotify’s Top Hits playlist wherever we go and making public announcements about our dear team members!

However, aside from all of these, at heart we are ultimately a bunch of students with a passion to serve the community around us. After 9 months of preparation, we are finally ready to embark on our project!

In the short timespan of a week, we aim to do our part to improve the school environment such that it is more conducive for the students. This ranges from basic maintenance work like repainting the flowerbeds to more challenging tasks such as building a drainage system and soccer goalposts from scratch. We are also conducting daily lessons for the students, which focus on sparking students’ interest in science through classes on basic science concepts. Last but not least, we have worked to create a carnival made entirely out of sustainable recycled materials, like cardboard that we scavenged from random supermarkets.
